The Book of Secrets is a collection of hand-painted ceramic slabs that unfold like a mystical text, rich in symbolism and ancient wisdom. Inspired by the Tarot and the narratives it weaves from a random selection of images, this series follows the same principle—symbols, both spontaneous and intentional, come together to tell a story of life’s cycles and our deep connection to both the earth and the cosmos.
A Tarot-Inspired Story of Harvest, Growth, and Sacred Consciousness
The Book of Secrets speaks not only of the nurturing power of the soil and the blossoming of life but also of the wisdom that flows from the sky, entering and exiting through the third eye, like a sacred stream of consciousness. In this series, water symbolizes divine insight, flowing from above into the beings’ heads and emerging through their foreheads, representing the activation of their third eye. This fluid connection between sky and earth mirrors the cycles of creation and transformation, reminding us that we are vessels for both earthly and cosmic wisdom.
The Medium: Earth Itself, Holding Sacred Knowledge
The ceramic slabs act as sacred tablets, crafted from the earth and symbolically linked to the deep knowledge it holds. Just as ancient books are fragile but filled with wisdom, these ceramic pieces were deliberately made with a delicacy that highlights the fine balance between strength and fragility. Shaped from earth’s materials, the ceramic symbolizes our own existence as beings both of the earth and of a higher consciousness. The medium itself, originating from the ground, plays an integral role in telling the story of interconnectedness between the earth’s wisdom and the sacred knowledge that descends from above.
In The Book of Secrets, the process of creation involved both silk-screening and hand-painting. The delicate images illustrate a narrative of growth, sustenance, and transformation, while incorporating symbols that depict the merging of knowledge from the earth and the divine realms, uniting sky and soil within the same beings.
Displayed as a Book of Earthly and Cosmic Knowledge
The ceramic slabs were displayed suspended within acrylic boxes, like the pages of a sacred book. Each slab, viewed from both sides, offers a new chapter in this unfolding story of harvest, growth, and divine insight. The careful balance of symbols—earth, water, and the third eye—creates a layered narrative that invites the viewer to contemplate the mysteries of our dual existence, both grounded in the soil and open to the cosmos above.
