Beyond the Veil: Feeling the Presence of My Ancestors
In Visitors, I explore the subtle, unseen energies surrounding us—the presence of ancestors whose influence we feel, even if we never knew them. These works reflect the quiet, often unnoticed moments where I sense a deep connection to my lineage and to the spirits of those who have shaped me, even across time and space.
A Personal Discovery
While learning tarot, I felt the spirit of my grandmother close, only to later discover that she was a card reader herself. This moment was a powerful reminder that even without conscious knowledge, there are threads of connection that bind us deeply to our roots, influencing who we are in mysterious ways.
The Mystery of Family
My mother's childhood was marked by absence and mystery. Raised by her sisters after her mother passed, her story is one of resilience but also of missing pieces. I had minimal contact as a child with my grandparents from either side of the family as we grew distant after moving countries. Through my art, I feel the presence of these enigmatic figures—whispers of the past that come alive on the canvas.
A Living Legacy
Though these works are not for sale, they hold a special place within my personal narrative and are part of the collection housed in my mother’s home in Brazil. They stand as a tribute to the living legacy of those who came before—reminding us that, though unseen, they are always near. Each piece captures a moment where the past and present, the spiritual and the material, intersect.
